OPM e-Services

The Office of the Prime Minister and its departments provide three forms of electronic services:

  • general information online (an important service in its own right)

  • online information about specific OPM services that are delivered to the public by conventional means but are not yet transactable electronically

  • interactive or transactable services (those where customers can obtain information that specifically concerns them or else obtain a service from start to finish via the Internet).

This page lists the services available in each category.

General information on the Internet

  • The Malta Government portal: this website, which is managed by the Department of Information, serves as the point of entry for all public services online and offers a wide range of information.

  • The Department of Information website: general information about the Government, press releases, the Government Gazette and other Government documents online, employment opportunities in the public sector, public calls for tender and more.

  • Quality Service Charters: learn more about the Quality Service Charter initiative and see the text of all Charters issued to date.

  • The Management and Personnel Office website: information and documentation on human resource management policy in the Public Service, including the full text of the Public Service Management Code.

Information about specific OPM services

  • Subscriptions to the Government Gazette: you can receive the Government Gazette by post.

  • Sale of publications: you can buy any available Government publication from the Department of Information.

  • Sale of printed photographs: you can purchase reprints of photographs of official events, national festivities, and aspects of national heritage from among the Department of Information's vast collection relating to official events, cultural activities or the national heritage.

  • Registration in terms of the Press Act: anyone acting as the editor or publisher of a newspaper or the editor of a broadcasting service is legally obliged to register with the Department of Information.

  • Honours and awards: each year the President bestows special honours and awards on persons who have given distinguished service to Malta. You can learn more about these honours and awards and download a nomination form.

Interactive/transactable services

  • DOI direct mailing services: announcements by the Department of Information (employment opportunities, scholarships, public calls for tender and press releases among others) can be sent to you directly via e-mail.

  • Servizz.gov.mt: a facility which allows you to electronically submit questions, suggestions or complaints to any public body. A clearing house within the Charter Support Unit will determine which public body is responsible for answering your query and will forward it accordingly. You are guaranteed a reply and you can track progress in dealing with your query.

  • Public Service Recruitment Portal: Persons can view all Circulars and Notices for the filling of vacancies in the Public Service, and apply on-line for such posts. Applicants will be required to fill in their profile, and this will serve as their on-line application form. Any qualification certificates accompanying such forms can either be sent as attachments to the profile, or sent to the respective departments by post.

  • Maltese-language support software: Unicode fonts (standard fonts with an extended character set that includes Maltese letters) are the new worldwide standard. You can download this software package to enable your keyboard to work with Maltese characters in Unicode fonts.
