The primary function of the Corporate Services Directorate is to provide support services to the departments and units of the Office of the Prime Minister, particularly in the areas of financial planning and management, human resource management, information technology, customer care and other office services. The Directorate is organised into the following branches:

  • Finance and Administration
  • Human Resources
  • Office Management
  • Registry

Finance and Administration

The Finance and Administration Branch is mainly responsible for business planning, budgeting and financial control, procurement of goods and services, and accounting. The Branch is also responsible for negotiating the two maintenance and support contracts, one for technical infrastructure facilities and the other for software applications, which the Office of the Prime Minister has with MITTS. The Branch is managed by Mr Carmel Vella, Assistant Director.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Branch is responsible for all staff matters, such as conditions of employment, appointments and promotions, absence and performance management, training and discipline. The Branch is also responsible for pay administration, overtime and premium payments. An Assistant Director, Mr Mario Zammit, manages the Branch.

Office Management

The Office Management Branch, which is headed by Mr Tony Savona, Assistant Director, is primarily responsible for the maintenance and upgrading of the buildings falling directly under the Office of the Prime Minister, namely the Auberge de Castille, Girgenti Palace and Villa Francia. The Branch co-ordinates and supervises capital projects and administers the OPM transport fleet.

Registry

The Registry is responsible for maintaining a filing system for all internal and external correspondence and other documents. Letters received from the general public are date-stamped on the day received and acknowledgements are issued. The Registry operates a computerised system to monitor the movement of files within OPM.
